Originally setting out to make an open world shooter that would capture the insanity of "zombie escape mods", the team at TALLBOYS ended up with Pandemic Express and an interesting premise, where you are the zombie, trying to eat, attack and turn your way to undead victory.
Initially, up to 30 players spawn in a small area in a large world. All players are friendly (i.e. human) and shortly after the match begins, one of the players is randomly infected, turning immediately into a ravenous zombie. That player's job immediately is to infect as many humans as possible, while the humans wait for a train to come along and spirit them off to victory, or if they don't want to just hang out and wait to die, they can scavenge for weapons and gear as they make their way to the train.
Calling their title the first ‘Zombie Mod’ on a massive scale, the game uses the CryEngine 5 and although they don't have a hard release date as of yet, it's worth taking a look at the trailer below to see how the game will play out.
