Iron Fist season one really sucked. It was not good. They decided to take the most formidable martial artist in the Marvel universe and turn him into a whiny baby who looked like he just started taking Kung Fu lessons yesterday. They rolled in a terrible plotline about how his low confidence was keeping his powers from activating, and he seemed to have no idea how to make his powers work in general. The whole thing was an overlong, bummer of a series.

But the main thing that drug it down was the fighting.

The fights were just awful. Just awful. Nothing was smooth or fluid, no one seemed to be making an impact with their blows and the choreography, as it were, was boring, uninspired and lackluster. The video below would like you to believe that they have it all ironed out now, but time will tell if they are right. In the meantime, I'll admit that hiring a new fight director was a big step in the right direction.

Clayton Barber took over this season, but his last work was Black Panther, which I thought was pretty bush-league, fight-wise. Barber digs on old school kung fu and is a big fan of Jackie Chan, and the fact that Finn Jones had months with the fighting and stunts this time around (as opposed to the days that were reported before on season 1) makes me think the fighting might just work this time around.

Take a look at the video below and let me know what you think in the comments.
