PINE HEARTS HOST ACCESSIBILITY FEATURE DAY WITH CREATORS
Hyper Luminal Games invited multiple creators to Scotland for a behind-the-scenes event exploring the game's accessibility elements and to find out more about the wild ‘n’ wholesome world of Pine Hearts.
Dundee, UK, 9th April 2024 — Publishing label Little Nook, part of Hyper Luminal Games, organised a special access day for Safe in Our World ambassadors therealpengy, Phoebe Hesketh, and content creators psykit and mousewastaken, all of whom are involved in supporting accessibility and mental health awareness in games. They got to chat with Creative Director Rob Madden, UX/UI Designer and Accessibility Lead Searra Leishman, and Social and Community Coordinator Melissa Cocker about all things Pine Hearts.
As well as testing various accessibility settings, we found out about the origins of the game's stories and themes, which are based on his fond childhood memories of camping with his father, who sadly passed away due to cancer.

Searra Leishman said, “We are extremely proud of the work that has gone into Pine Hearts accessibility options and it will be launching with more than 10 different accessibility settings. The demo currently features the first 3 of these: Simplified Controls, Colour Blocking Mode, and Control Rebinding. There is also an accessibility onboarding flow, which allows users to make some quick choices about their options before they jump into gameplay. Beyond this, we have a further 7 options implemented that will be available with the full release.”
Hyper Luminal Games will be at WASD April 25-27 in the Truman Brewery, bringing a fresh Pine Hearts demo featuring options for accessible play on-site. Meet the team, learn more about Tyke and friends, and maybe pick up some lovely treats.
This game is a love letter to those who mean so much to us. It lets players experience the wonder of memories, adventure, and hope packaged in the colourful, whimsical setting of Caravan Park.
