Souls-like, Roguelite Crossover Mortal Rite Receives First Major Early Access Update

Indie developer Round Toast Studios is pleased to announce the release of the first major update for their action-packed roguelike crossover game Mortal Rite. Since launching for PC via Steam Early Access in November, 2024, the Round Toast Studios team has been constantly listening to community feedback and working to enhance and optimize the Mortal Rite and address the most requested features from fans. Mortal Rite is available now for PC via Steam Early Access for $24.99USD / £19.99GBP / €24.99EUR.

This update marks the first step in Mortal Rite's Early Access development journey and the commitment of the team to deliver a deep and fulfilling gameplay experience.

What to expect in the first update

  • Onboarding has been improved and will continue to evolve with player feedback.
  • Brand new tutorial for new players to learn the basics
  • Reworked character kits of abilities
  • Updated menu look and feel
  • Connecting with friends through multiplayer is a more concise process, with a region locking option now added.
  • Numerous bug fixes, performance and quality of life improvements.

Mortal Rite is an action-packed crossover between a Souls-like and Roguelike game where gamers fight solo or side-by-side with up to 5 co-op players, utilising swappable abilities and items while using the bodies of resurrected champions.

The core of Mortal Rite is a fast, action-based melee combat system that allows players to trade blows with enemies and rewards strategy over button-mashing. Choose from a variety of characters to embody, each with their own lore, fighting style, and abilities. Overcome enemies by using different skills, strategies, cooperation, collecting and crafting items to stop the encroachment of the king. Play solo or co-op multiplayer from the very start of the game, with a maximum party size of 5. Duel with your friends in the refuge for additional rewards, but be wary, as a larger party size will attract additional enemies.
