Abe's Exoddus - Necrum

You fall and land in a air vent. Then you are thrown up and to the left onto a
platform. Walk left. Notice a pile of soulstorm brew bottles on the platform
Abe's on so there's an entrance to a secret area on this screen. Jump down to
the middle platform. Stand to the very right of it and jump to the right. Abe
will fall into a well and be launched into the secret area.

Secret Area 1
---

Face right and hit /\ to hop off the top ledge. You'll be shot at by the sligs
in the background but don't move, the pipes beside Abe shield him from the
gunfire. Run to the right then hit x to curl into a roll before the end of the
screen. This part took FOREVER to complete, don't get discouraged it can be
done. Be careful to hide behind the pillars on the following screen every time
you move. Climb up to the top and continue to the right. The next screen is
where the mudokons are. I strongly suggest quiksaving as SOON as you come on
screen. A grinder that's positioned over the working mudokons will start to drop
down onto them as soon as Abe gets on screen. Now hop quickly (avoiding the
grinder) to the far right platform. Call all the mudokons to follow you to the
right corner and tell them to wait or work. Climb down and left and get
acquainted with the three bombs. Deactivate then chant to free the mudokons
while the grinder is up. Roll right quickly (the grinder may be going a lot
faster now that the workers are free) and jump into the well on the rightmost
platform.

End of secret.

Once back on the screen with the bottles continue to the left, hoisting up the
platforms left with falling debris. Jump and go to the right and up. On the next
screen move left. Hang down from the leftmost and highest platform. Let go and
fall into a well one screen down. Go right and use the info stand. It calls a
bird portal. Chant and hop through. Walk right and jump into the well on the
right edge of the next screen. Continue right then crouch and roll under the
roots of the big tree. You'll fall to a screen that has two closed doors and a
lower and higher ledge. THerer are also four lanterns that must be lit before
you may continue, these may be done in any order and are completed by using info
devices to the left and right of the center screen. If you go to the right first
and down you will see the second/lower center screen that has a skull carved
into the bark of the great tree. To the right and high (next screen) is an info
stand. To get to the lower platform crouch and roll to the right on the bottom
of the skull screen. You drop down next to the second info stand. Use it. To get
back, hang from the right edge of the platoform and drop into the well below.
Now for the left side. Walk left. You'll notice this next screen has a pulley
elevator below and a well on the higher platform. Ride the elevator down use the
third info stand. Go back up and to the well on the higher platform. Abe'll be
shot through a series of wells and end up on the other side of the screen with
the 3rd info device, next to device #4. Use this one then jump into the well
next to it. Climb back up to the top by standing on the high left ledge and
hoisting. The happy chimes will ring and the high door opens now that all four
lanterns are lit.

Hoist up and enter the door. Abe is now in the front entrance to the mudokon
vaults. On the screen to the right is a bird portal that takes you back to your
sick mudokon buddies still in the soulstorm brewery. Use it if you like. To
return to necrum, walk to the left and another bird portal is on that screen.
Use the info stand next to the door of the vault entrance. It will explain the
next task and open the door. Enter it. You're back outside next to the second
door of the big skull tree. There should be another bird portal on the higher
platform. Climb up and chant and hop through. Walk to the right, hoist up and
continue right. Enter the door in the middle of the next screen. Now we get to
deal with the world of fleeches and slurgs! Personally I detest them but they
can be lots of fun to kill in later areas. For now, sneak past them and to the
right. Use the info stand explaining them and how it's best not to step on the
slurgs. Hop over and hang down and drop. Climb down and move carefully left and
hang off bottom leftmost edge. Drop down. Here begins our interaction with the
fleech population of necrum. Run then run-jump from the left ledge to the right,
hoist and quickly press up to enter the well on the right ledge. Use the info
device and slap open the first spirit lock. Move left and climb up to exit the
now open door (thanks to the freed mudokon spirit).

Fleeches
--------
- note: it is highly advisable that you quiksave as much as you can *but not if
you're very near to being killed* after each switch or after crossing from one
side of the screen to another after tiptoeing and avoiding stepping on slurgs. -

Area 1 - Switch order = LEFT, RIGHT

The next area is the first in a series of what I call the "Fleech Obstacle
Courses." There are four of these that seem to get more and more difficult as
you pass them. In the first you must carefully pull the left switch (don't step
on the slurgs!) and then the right. Pulling the right switch wakes the fleech
hanging from that ledge. After pulling the right switch just quickly drop down
and exit through the door.

Area 2 - Switch order = LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER

This may be the most difficult of all these fleech courses even though they seem
to be designed with increasing difficulty per level in mind. Again tiptoe left,
hoist, and pull the switch. Quiksave. Move over to the right carefully hoist,
stand to the left of the switch and pull it. AS SOON as you you pull the right
switch turn to the left and and hit /\. You'll land perfectly next to the
center switch. Pull it and get to the door fast. It takes 6 hits from a fleech
to kill you so don't overshoot the door if you're running.

Area 3 - Switch order = LEFT, CENTER, RIGHT

I felt this course was perhaps the easiest. Maybe they should have swapped the
second and third fleech courses? Tiptoe left and climb up to pull the switch.
Quickly jump to the right and pull the center switch. Do the same again and get
the right switch. Jump down and escape.

Area 4 (phew last one) - Switch order = RINGS, LEFT, RIGHT

On the last of these, pull the 3 rings first then sneak to the left, pull the
switch, and run jump up to the right and pulling the right switch, drop down and
go up through the door before the fleeches get hit Abe more than six times.

You enter a new area and the info device tells you about Invisibility. Move
right and down. You'll fall into a well and get next to another info device. Use
it or not. Climb down and slap open this a ringed spirit lock. Abe gets a ring
of invisibility. Chanting will activate it. You don't need to do this just yet
though. Jump into the well at the left. Back atthe top again. Climb down and to
theleft untill at the bottom chamber. Chant to activate invisibility. Roll right
and climb up and over quickly. Keep moving up until atht edoor and enter. While
in the room or screen with an invisibility lock you can regenerate the power if
it has faded. Just change to reactivate. MOve right and enter the door. Stand on
the edge of the ledge and hop left. Continue left and chant to open the portal.
Hop through and walk left. Jump into the the well on the next screen. POOF,
Abe's now in the background. Walk right past the well on the next screen and use
the info device. You now learn more about the mudanchee and mudomo tribes. Jump
into the well and move left. This screen has bottles. Yay a secret entrance!

Secret area
--

Climb up and hold down R2 to sneak one step to the left. Jump over to the right
and pull the green lever.

Jump over to the left and you will grab onto the lower ledge. Climb up and Sneak
to the left and then roll under the wall. There is a Greeter (a metal garbage-
can like thing that talks like a Slig) projecting a motion detector. There are 3
trapdoors opening and closing and 2 bombs and 2 depressed mudokons.

You need to climb up and learn the timing of the trapdoors and bombs and
deactivate them one at a time.

Walk to the upper left and pull the green lever.

Roll to the right and climb down.

While crouched, reactivate the bomb below and sit on the right side of it. When
the Greeter's motion detector is on you, press to the RIGHT and hold down until
you go to the next screen out of the way of the bomb exploding. Now roll back to
the left and the Greeter is gone.

You can rescue your friends now. The depressed mudokon at the top won't get back
to normal until the Greeter is gone. Now you can lead both to safety below.

Jump into the air vent.

Jump back into the air well you just came out of and now you are in Scrabania!



Scrabania

Roll right and enter the well. Move right and enter the door. Walk to the right
and use the info device. Walk to the right and pull the green switch. Walk back
left and jump into the well. Walk to the right and possess the scrab by
chanting. Run after the fleech with the scrab making sure to back it into a
corner. Jump on it by pressing O or [] to kill it (see I told you it was fun).
You might also use this chance to practice using shred power as sometimes you'll
need to deal with more than a couple fleeches. Unpossess then move right and
hang down and drop. Pull the ring then the green switch and continue left. Slap
open the spirit lock. Exit through the now open door at the left.

RUN LEFT IMMEDIATELY. Jumping when necessary to avoid fleeches. Continue left to
the end of this path where there's a well. Jump in and use the info device in
the foreground. Slap open a ringed spirit cage and continue right. Chant and
pull the switch. Hurry to the right and pull the switch on the following screen
and continue. Run-jump on the third screen to catch onto the ledge and hoist up
and exit through the door.

Climb down and hop to the right. Continue to the next screen. Jump into the well
to get onto the ledge nearby. Hoist up where there's falling debris. Continue up
and sneak left. Jump to the ledge with the switch and the info device. Quicly
pull the switch then chant to possess the scrab. Move to teh right with him and
use shred power to kill the fleech. Walk the scrab back to the right and
unpossess. Pull the green switch again to trap the scrab to the left. Run jump
back to the right and pull the lower switch then slap open the spirit lock.
Chant to become invisible. Climb up and go right and back down to where Abe
started. Sneak right once at the bottom (The only good fleech is a sleeping or
dead one). Use the wellto get to the top of the platform. Stand at the edge and
step off to fall in to the second well. You'll land quietly amidst the good
fleeches. Sneak carefully to the right (watch for slurgs). Chant briefly to go
invisible then pull the switch and run jump to the ledge on the right. Climb up
where there's falling debris and an arrow painted on a rock. Free the trapped
spirit then climb back down and exit.

Walk to the right and possess the scrab. Possess him and walk left with him.
Step on the tile on the ground and he'll soon tangle with the other scrab on
screen. That other scrab will kill the one you've possessed. Walk back to the
left and possess the second scrab. Go to the right with him. He'll also meet a
scrab that will kill him. I had a bit of trouble getting the third scrab to come
onscreen from to where Abe stands at this point so try using some of Abe's voice
commands or chanting then hanging from the edge of the platform to give the
scrab a look at what's making all the noise. If that doesn't work, drop down and
run left then run-jump and hoist onto the next ledge. At some point you should
get the scrab's attention so you can possess him. Once you have go back to the
right and kill the fleech on the last screen. Make sure he climbs onto the ledge
if you're not fast enough to attack. Move the possessed scrab all the way back
to the left end of the area and step on the last tile, trapping him behind a
divider. Unpossess and go to the screen where you've left the scrab and free the
trapped mudokon spirit. Go back to the right and there will be the frightened
fleech. Quickly slap open the second spirit lock and and run to the left and
exit through the now open door.

Walk to the left, climb up and go in the door. Walk to the left. See the
bottles? Yay another secret area.

Secret Area
---

Crouch down and roll and you'll fall into the hidden room as the happy chimes
ring. Chant to open the bird portal Run-jump off ledge into it while the scrab
faces you. Say "all ya" and "follow me" to get the mudokons down to the next
level. Pull the switch and quickly drop down and join them. You only get a few
seconds before the fleeches are freed so you have to make 'em count. Pull the
switch where you and the mudokons landed then jump down to the lower level. Tell
all the mudokons to follow you again and position them to the left of the
grinders and tell them to work. Quickly crouch next to the vertical grinders and
roll underneath when the first one is the same height as Abe. Be careful not to
roll far enough to disturb the bird portal. Hoist up while the horizontal
grinder is close to the wall then crouch and move next to the switch. Stand when
the grinder passes then crouch down and roll off the edge. Quickly chant to free
the mudokons. The fleeches should be free by now so run back to the left and
climb up to the first level and jump into the well to safety.

Hoist up and back to the cluttered area that hides the secret entrance and roll
to the right.
Climb up and walk to the left. CHANT to open the birdgate and jump through. Use
the info device. Walk to the right and jump into the air vent.

MUDANCHEE VAULTS

The layout of the vaults is somewhat like this:

My numbering method is arbitrary these are not necessarily number in an
particular order.

Vault 4
-------

Run to the right immediately and hop intoo the well at the end of the path. Pull
switch to trap the scrab on the right of the divider once he's under the ledge.
Climb down and sneak left. Pull the swithc and go back to the right and hoist
up. Pull switch to free the scrab then possess him. Go left and kill all the
fleeches. WOOHOO! Bring the scrab back tot he righ and trap him again under the
ledge. Go left and free the ringed spirit. Return to the right and hoist onto
the ledge above the scrab. Pull the switch, then chant to become invisible. Then
drop down and exit through the door.

-Area 2-

Wait until the scrab is underneath the ledge Abe ius standing on then run jump
to the left and enter the well in the center of the screen. Pull the switch in
the background then quickly jump into the well next to it, escaping the grasp of
the fleeches. You can avoid having to run if you sneak to and from the switch.
Once back in the foreground. Be careful not to do so when the scrab is standing
in front of the well. Run to the right then jump and hoist up onto the middle
ledge OR run into a crouch/roll and fall to the lowest level of the right most
screen. Crouch and roll to the left and pull the switch. Chant to possess the
scrab in the background. Run him to the right and use shred power to kill the
fleeches surrounding the spirit lock. Bring the scrab all the way back to the
left Unpossess and trap him behind the divider by pulling the switch again. Roll
back to the right and repeat the manuever to get to the well in the center
screen. When in the background go right and freely slap open the spirit lock now
that Mr. Scrab has made short work of those nasty fleeches. Come back to the
foreground by using the well on the left screen and run to the run jumping to
the middle ledge before the scrab attacks you. Go down to the bottom level and
roll to the left. Pull the switch. Roll back to the right. Climb up and chant to
activate invisibility and run to the left past the scrab and fleeches and exit
through the now open door.
