MODIFIED in any shape or form. I would also like to be given some kind
of noticeable credit. You may not use this FAQ for promotional or

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
First things first. If I catch you ripping something off of this, I'll get you in
trouble or something. Look, don't rip off, because it's not right. You're
stealing other work that people have put hard work into. Don't do it!

That being said, I'm glad to see someone is viewing my FAQ. I am Dragonlord. Don't
get me confused with some other person named Dragonlord on GameFAQs. If the e-mail
isn't dragonlord@adlo.de or dragon1@mtrap.org, it's not me. The reason I say this
is because a friend once told me that someone other than myself named Dragonlord
submitted something to GameFAQs. Don't get me mixed up with the other person and
all is well.

So, I see you've come for help on the hit NES game Mega Man 5. That's what I'm
here for! This will be the second FAQ I have written, my first being a Mega Man
7 FAQ. You can always give me feedback on it, all i ask is that you use constructive
criticism, because flames suck.

| [B] | About this FAQ |
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
In this FAQ, I have tried to cover everything in Mega Man 5. It was quite
surprising to see that no one had already written an FAQ or Walkthrough for Mega
Man 5 at GameFAQs. After all, it's no worse (not to say that the Mega Man games
aren't any good) than the other Mega Man games.

| [C] | Mega Man 5 |
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Mega Man 5 is for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Quite like any other Mega
Man game, there are eight enemies, powerups, and Dr. Wily. Mega Man 5
introduces Beat, who also appears as early as Mega Man 4 for Game Boy, but not
MM4 on NES. Mega Man 5 also features Rush, Mega Man's helpful red robotic dog.

Mega Man 5 is the first and only part of the series to have TWO fortresses after
defeating the eight robot masters. First you have to go through Proto Man's
fortress and after completing that fortress, you obviously have to go through
Dr. Wily's.
=___________________________________________________________________________________=
| [2] | Story |
=¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯=
The story of Mega Man 5 is basically the same as every other Mega Man game.
Dr. Wily escapes or builds eight robots to wreck havoc on the city, and Mega Man
must do something to stop them.

In the year 20XX AD, an army of vicious robots was unleashed on the world,
causing them to destroy and consume everything in sight.

And Behind this destruction is...

PROTOMAN?!

Protoman kidnapped Dr. Light, creator of Mega Man, and brought him to his
fortress. Mega Man must now destroy the eight robot masters (as usual) and rescue
Dr. Light!
=___________________________________________________________________________________=
| [3] | Controls |
=¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯=
The controls in Mega Man 5 are simple and remain the same throughout the entire
game. You will not have any trouble controlling Mega Man.

** Buttons without descriptions are apparently of no use.
** Control not exactly as shown! ^_^

should kill the robot masters so that it's easier. It's important that you try
to follow it so that it'll be easier for you.

=¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯=
The damage chart shows what weapon damages which robot and how much it damages
the robot by. It can be a useful guide for times you are out of the primary
needed weapon against the robot. You can refer to it to find out what other
weapons work good against the enemy.

* Thanks to Colin Moriarty for giving me permission to make a damage chart
in my FAQ. The idea was from his MM1 & MM2 FAQS that can be found on GameFAQs.

Perhaps I was wrong; this is far more annoying than Star Man's level. There

Gyro Man's stage is not too bad, overall. The only part that could get
challenging is the section with the falling blocks. To get the "A", stand on

Crystal Man's stage is probably one of the easiest in Mega Man 5. The
falling crystals can be moderately annoying but the rest of the level is
simple. The "V" is definitely difficult to get. What you have to do is hug
the left wall before the screen with the "V". This can be difficult because
of the spikes below, so wait until you pass the last spike and THEN hold left

Napalm Man himself is easy to defeat. Unfortunately, his level is not. It's

Here are strategies for all known bosses in Mega Man 5. Difficulty is rated on a
scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the easiest and 5 being the hardest. Most bosses in MM5
are simple, mind you.

Target: GRAVITY MAN
Suggested Weapon: Star Crash Difficulty: 2.5

Gravity Man, while being very annoying, is easy to kill if you have Star Crash.
He has a basic attack which is the equivalent of the Mega Buster. Other than
using it, he just rotates the gravity. What you have to do is use star crash
and stay almost aligned with him on the opposite wall. When he rotates gravity
the Star Crash will hit him, taking out 4 bars.

Target: WAVE MAN
Suggested Weapon: Charge Kick Difficulty: 2.8

Once you get the hang of Wave Man's attacks, you'll have no problem defeating
him. He comes equipped with two attacks, his own form of Water Wave and an
arrow gun or something of that sort. Half the time the Water Wave won't even
pop up where you are standing, so that's not to worry about. When he shoots an
arrow at you, jump over it and quickly slide under him. Take any available
chance to hit him with Charge Kick.

Target: STONE MAN
Suggested Weapon: Napalm Bomb Difficulty: 1.2

Excuse me while I stop laughing from how easy Stone Man is. ^_^ He has a total
of one attack, which will seldom hit you. Other than this attack, all he does
is hop around the screen, hoping to crush Mega Man under him. Stand beside where
you think he's going to land and use Napalm Bomb to reduce this pile of stones
to dust.

Target: GYRO MAN
Suggested Weapon: Gravity Hold Difficulty: 1.6

Gyro Man. You MUST have a full bar of Gravity Hold, as you'll leave his stage
with an empty one. He has an arsenal of two attacks. The first being when he
just whips a Gyro blade at you. Just jump over that. The second being when he
flies into the air, shoots down a Gyro blade at you and then comes crashing
down on Mega Man. Jump over the blade and quickly slide to avoid being hit. Use
Gravity Hold whenever you wish , as it hits him no matter what.

Target: STAR MAN
Suggested Weapon: Water Wave Difficulty: 2.1

Star Man has no real attacks. He basically keeps using Star Crash and throws it
at you, thereafter jumping towards you. His pattern of attacks are: 1) Jump at
Mega Man with Star Crash. 2) Fire Star Crash at Mega Man. Repeat. When he jumps
at you, just slide underneath or if the jump is close, jump over. The gravity
is low in this room and you can jump real high. Whenever he's standing on the
ground, make haste to use Water Wave.

Target: CHARGE MAN
Suggested Weapon: Protect Stone Difficulty: 3

There's a reason they call him Charge Man. He has two attacks, all of which he
follows in the same order continuously. First, he'll walk towards you. Jump over
him and walk to the other side of the screen. He'll then make a noise and shoot
out fireballs. These can easily be avoided by walking away from them once you
see them falling. Finally, he'll charge at you. Just jump over him. After he's
charged at you is a perfect chance to use Protect Stone to hit him, so take
advantage.

Target: NAPALM MAN
Suggested Weapon: Crystal Eye Difficulty: 3.4

I must admit, Napalm Man will give you a little bit of trouble, but nothing to
wet your pants over. He has two attacks and they're quite difficult to avoid.
He mainly shoots out three missiles, which can be hopped over and Crystal Eye
can be shot in between. The problem is that as he gets closer and closer to you
it becomes more and more difficult to avoid the missiles. You have to jump over
him and get to the other side. His second attack is a Napalm Bomb shot into the
air diagonally. He usually jumps at Mega Man after this, so slide under him.

Target: CRYSTAL MAN
Suggested Weapon: Gyro Attack Difficulty: 2.8

.. And finally, Crystal Man. He is programmed with two attacks, one which you
can disregard since it's so easy to avoid. Crystal Man will use one really
unavoidable attack. When he shoots four mini-Crystal Eye balls out of his chest.
These will bounce around the room and it's inevitable that you'll be hit. The
best time to hit Crystal Man is when he's jumping about and shooting single
plasma shots. These are easy to avoid and when he hits the ground, fire away!

Target: Track-Bot Found on: Level 1
Suggested Weapon: Water Wave Difficulty: 1

I really think that Capcom got lazy when programming bosses. This thing is
easy as hell. It uses one attack, a plasma burst. When it shoots this out, jump
over it and fire away with Water Wave. Each time the robot is hit, it will
shoot out another plasma burst and slowly become faster. Do your best to avoid
the shots and crush this excuse for an enemy. ^_^

Target: Shield-Bot Found on: Level 2
Suggested Weapon: Crystal Eye Difficulty: 1.2

Both Crystal Eye and Napalm Bomb work equally as well on this boss. Following
the trend of easy bosses, the only difference between this one and the
Track-Bot is the shield that rotates around. Likewise, it gets faster as it
weakens. However, this thing doesn't even have an attack! It just charges at
you where you can just hop over it without any trouble. Fire away with Crystal
Eye (I recommend it over Napalm Bomb) and be ready to jump whenever it charges
at you.

Target: Cannon-Bot Found on: Level 3
Suggested Weapon: Gyro Attack Difficulty: 2.8

Capcom finally decides to heat things up at Proto Man's Fortress and introduces
a boss that requires a bit of strategy. It has two attacks: the first is when
it fires out three circular shots in a spreadfire towards Mega Man. If they hit
Mega Man, he will become frozen in his tracks. The second is when the robot
jumps into the air and fires out 5 consecutive balls of plasma. It usually uses
attack 1 and attack 2 right after. When he uses the first attack, get away and
jump in between the top and middle circles OR over the top circle. This can be
difficult, indeed. When the bot jumps up and starts firing the circles, slide
underneath it and avoid them. Unleash the Gyro Attack whenever you have the
chance.

Target: Mega-Bot Found on: Level 4
Suggested Weapon: Star Crash Difficulty: 3

Combining the skills of all the previous robots in the Proto Fortress, the Mega
Bot will give you some trouble. It has two attacks and both are very difficult
to avoid. The first is when it shoots 3 plasma blasts. They can be avoided with
some quick jumping. The second involves the robot firing its shield in Mega
Man's path, jumping to the other side of the screen and getting its shield back.
This is a great chance to hit it with the Star Crash. Star Crash has very poor
range which also adds to the difficulty. Good luck!

Target: Wheel-Bot Found on: Level 1
Suggested Weapon: Crystal Eye Difficulty: 2.3

This tall can of junk requires a tad bit of strategy and swiftness. You MUST
have at least half a bar full of Crystal Eye, or it'll be a lot harder to kill
it. The way the robot operates is whatever "wheel" you shoot it will fire at
you. This can be used to your advantage. Shoot the bottom "wheel", jump on it,
and shoot the top one. Jump on that and aim towards the robot's eyes with
Crystal Eye. Seven shots to the eyes will put it back in the junkyard.

Target: Armored-Bot Found on: Level 2
Suggested Weapon: Gyro Attack Difficulty: 2.1

This thing looks like a large version of one of those hard-hat robots that pop
up and shoot you. I must say, it's very easy to kill, requiring only the
evasion of a few attacks. Its first attack is when it shoots out orange balls
from the top of its head. The second is the same thing except from its mouth.
Sounds easy? It is. Stand on one of the platforms and wait until the sides open
up. When they do, unleash Gyro Attack on it. One Gyro Attack will take out 4
energy bars, so it's not very difficult to kill.

Target: Dr. Wily (1) Found on: Level 3
Suggested Weapon: M. Buster Difficulty: 2

Dr. Wily's first diabolical machine was constructed with simple programming.
It hovers around the room, attempting to scare Mega Man, but all it really does
is wait until Mega Man is stopped. It then comes crashing down onto Mega Man.
This can easily be avoided. When you see the window open up and the ship stops,
get out of the way! When the machine hits the ground, jump and release a charged
Mega Buster shot at the window where Dr. Wily can be seen.

Target: Dr. Wily (2) Found on: Level 4
Suggested Weapon: M. Buster Difficulty: 3.4

The second machine in Dr. Wily's arsenal is a heavy piece of artillery. It can
be quite the challenge. It has two attacks. The first being when it shoots out
either blue bouncing balls or red homing missiles. Both are equally as dangerous
and nearly impossible to avoid. The second is when it tries to suck you up. You
see that vacuum-like mouth? That's the weak part of the bot. Power up your Mega
Buster and aim for it. The missiles are quite fast and so they're hard to avoid.
No weapon other than the M. Buster works well on this thing, so good luck!

Target: Dr. Wily (3) Found on: Level 4
Suggested Weapon: M. Buster Difficulty: 3.2

Just when you thought it was over, it's not. Now you must kill Wily as he flies
around in a small spaceship. Again, no weapon is as good as a charged-up Mega
buster shot on him. This final boss features two attacks. The first is used as
soon as Dr. Wily appears. Two purple balls are shot down and split in both
directions. After these are shot is a PERFECT chance to release the charged-up
shot. After this attack, he'll fire four more purple balls in all four
directions that act like Protect Stone. These are quite hard to avoid. The good
thing about this final battle is that Dr. Willy will *NEVER* appear at the
bottom middle of the screen, so that's a "safe zone." Stay there and if Dr. Wily
appears on the left bottom or right bottom, jump up and release the shot.
Once you take out this final boss, congratulations! You've won!
