1. The Story
---------
You are Avvy's guardian angel, trying to guide him around Pompeii
looking for some sort of escape. Avvy has no idea what's about to
happen, but you do. He's got a lot of work to do, and so litte
time. So start talking to everyone and everything to save our
Avvy!

2. The Characters
--------------
Crapulus - Your faithful slave... sometimes.
Arkata - Your not-so-nice wife.
Lupus - Your archenemy who convienently lives across from you.
Taxidermus - A taxer (not a character in the game.)
Noxius - Guard of Pompeii treasury.
Nervus - Watches the treasury, but all he needs is some sort
of diversion.
Sinistrus - The barman. Serves wine and other stuff to his faithfuls
at the Cania Et Anas.
Slanderus - The drunk. Very incoherent. Never leaves his stool.
Romulus - The Centurion. Talk to him a few times for an item
and to gamble.
Quicphingus - The soothsayer. Just a dreamy crystal ball gazer?
Caecilus - Gives you a clue in how to enter the Temple.
Didymus - The Christian. Thrown into the catacombs to be eaten
by lions.
Gedalodava - A woman of little words, but many actions.

3. Walkthrough
-----------
First, after the intro and the remarks of your wife Arkata, WAKE UP.
Arkata is grumpy, and talking to her only results in her nagging
for wine. Go south.

When you walk into the main room, Crapulus, your faithful always drunk
servant, will tell you about Taxidermus. He'll eventually get to
the point that Lupus, your neighbor, want's to see you. Lupus is
Avvy's worst enemy, so obviously you won't go over there empty handed.
After that, Crapulus will disappear to the Cania Et Anas (a bar of
some sort) you'll see him there later. To your right is the slave quarters
which you can't enter, and to the left is a crack in the floor. You can't go
down here yet, and going near it will result in a neck breaking fall. Exit your
house by going south.

To the west is Treasurer's office and the Pompeii treasury, and to the
south is Lupus' house. First, you need to go East.

You'll be in front of Canis Et Anas, and OPEN DOOR to go in. First just
talk to everybody. Hitting ESCAPE you can TALK TO SOMEBODY and it gives
you a whole list of people you can talk to. Talking to Romulus you gossip
a little and then talking to him a second time will give you THE ROPE and let
you play a game of dice. The object of the game is throw two dice and get the
highest of Crapulus and Romulus. Just save your game and then reload if you
loose. (You can only play once in the unregistered version.) Talk to
Quicphingus (the sooth sayer) and he'll hint to you about loosing his Crystal
Ball, and how he needs a new one. That's a big part of the game. Crapulus is
drunk and not much fun. But however, sit down at the bar next to Slanderus the
drunk (and and talk to him. (Not suprisingly he's drunk too.) Buy some wine
from the barmen. Now you can drink it, give it to Arkata or hold on to it. You
can always buy more.
I like to give mine to Arkata hee hee :) Now exit and go East.

You'll be at a temple like place, called Agere Qvod Agis. You need a
password to enter it, so continue East.

As soon as you get to the next screen, a man will rush up to you. His
name is Caecilus Iucundus, and he gives you a clue that a place to
search rhymes with dockers. Well, the answer is lockers, so go
North.

You'll know be at the Baths of Pompeii. You can only enter the V door,
unless you have registered the game, then of course you can enter
everything except the ladies room. I haven't so I don't know what's
in it. :)

After entering, you'll see a wall lined with lockers. Keep going to
the left and UNDRESS and you'll bathe and come back. Now LOOK IN LOCKER
for every locker. Eventually you'll find a scroll. EXAMINE SCROLL to
find the password for the temple. Like it says, the password will change
everytime you play. Now you can go to the temple, so go south and west.

Just walk up to the temple and type the password given to you. You can
now enter. Looking around you'll notice the funny statues, but most
important, that figure holding the trident is loose. TAKE TRIDENT.
Then exit. Go West. Now it's time to face Lupus. Go south.

Sit on the couch with Lupus and listen to his dialog. Eventually you'll
get to fight the lions.

The Controls:

A - UP
Z - DOWN
Enter - FIRE

This takes ALOT of practice. Just try not to move to fast and shoot
your trident carefully. Kill anything less then 5 lions, and you die,
Game Over. 5 and over gets you reincarnated. Kill them all, and
you still get eaten by a lion, but reincarnated.

Now, you'll be back in your house and everything seems okay. :) Going
south to talk to Lupus again, he'll tell you Gedalodava (the slave girl
you died for) is at your house. However, going back to your house
and trying to open the door to your slave quarters, it seems the
slave girl is occupied. Now the crack in your main room comes in handy.
Go to the edge of the crack (being careful!) and TIE ROPE TO HOOK.
Walk into the rope and you won't fall, but land at bottom of some
tunnels. There's one purpose in these tunnels, so here's the quick
way to get here: LEFT, LEFT, LEFT, NORTH, LEFT, NORTH, NORTH, NORTH
and NORTH.

Eventually you'll find Didymus, who was thrown down into these catacombs
to be eaten by lions. You'll tell him about the rope and he'll be able
to escape, of course not without showing his gratitude and giving
you a CRYSTAL BALL.

Now go back to the rope, (5,5) and climb up. Exit your house south
and go West. Now go in the Treasurer's Office. Talk to him and he'll leave and
you are free to take the key. Touch anything else... and well save and you'll
see. :)

Exit and then OPEN DOOR to the Pompeii treasury. The guard is surprised
as your new key fits the locks. Here Avvy fills his bags full of Denarii.

Go back to the Cania Et Anas to the EAST. Go in the Bar and talk to
the soothsayer. This is important, so save you game! Give the crystal
ball to the Soothsayer. Type it wrong and you lost the ball and the
game. If you typed it right, talk to him a second time and he'll gaze
into the ball. He'll see Pompeii is going to be devastated and you
may only be the one to escape. He knows the escape route, but it's going
to cost you 2,000 Denarii. No problem, so pay the soothsayer,
and watch the end to this amusing game!

4. FAQ
---
Q: The lions go too fast!! As a matter of fact, the whole game goes too
fast! Now what?

A: You need a CPU slower downer thingie. :) To get that, just go to
www.cnet.com and search for "CPU Slow". Download CPU killer. Open it,
adjust it to how slow you want it, and voila.

Q: I gave the soothsayer my crystal ball, but he didn't get it and
it disappeared!?

A: This is some sort of weird thing that happens. Just type it carefully
and save before you give it to him.

Q: What are all the ways you can die in avvy?

A: Fun question. :) Here's all the ways you can die in Avvy:

1. Fall down the catacombs.
2. Take too much time to complete the game (I don't know how long)
3. Loose to Lupus' Lions
4. Take the gold in the Treasury Office
5. Cuss 3 times in the game. Very funny. :)

That's it! Any more questions or comments please e-mail
them to me they are greatly appreciated. Kindarspirit@aol.com
